Gardner M. Peavy, King Antonio CIII
For Gardner Peavy, the Texas Cavaliers have always been part of his DNA. As a boy, he watched his cousin Marshall Clegg serve as King Antonio in 1990 — a figure he describes as “larger than life” — while his father, Dan C. Peavy, served as Marshall’s Aide that same year. That early impression never left him. The family tradition runs deep — Gardner’s brother, Daniel W. Peavy, is also a proud member of the Cavaliers. As Gardner grew professionally, so did his desire to be part of an organization he sees as the best of both worlds: deep camaraderie and an even deeper purpose of giving back to the community.
A member of the Texas Cavaliers since 2008, Gardner has served six years on the Board of Directors, including as Commander in 2024–2025 and Parade Marshal of the River Parade in 2021–2022. During his leadership, the organization raised over $2 million for children’s charities in San Antonio, including facilitating a $1.2 million grant to Haven for Hope. He is a member of both the Mounted Platoon — a group dedicated to preserving the tradition of horsemanship — and the King’s Navy, and serves as a trustee of the Texas Cavaliers Charitable Foundation.
This year carries special meaning. As King Antonio CIII in the Cavaliers’ centennial year, Gardner reflects: “Being King Antonio is a huge honor. It is such a unique opportunity to experience San Antonio and all the great people in a way most never get to. It makes my heart swell with pride for our city — and it also highlights the deep needs of our city. Once you see it, you want to be more involved to help… for life.”
Gardner is a graduate of Texas Military Institute and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University. He is a Partner at SageView Partners, a commercial real estate investment firm, and previously served as Managing Director at CBRE–San Antonio.
Gardner and his wife Jill — an outdoors enthusiast and adventurous travel companion in her own right — are the proud parents of three sons. Kyle (22) is completing his economics degree at Texas A&M this May, with a minor in construction and real estate, and will begin his career with Mauze Construction this summer. Keller (19), also at Texas A&M studying business and finance, has already launched his professional journey through summer finance internships. Caleb (16), a freshman at Alamo Heights High School, is a passionate motocross rider, Alamo Heights football player, and is set to earn his Eagle Scout this summer. All three share their father’s love of the outdoors.
The Peavy family’s adventures have taken them to nearly every major national park in the country — camping, hiking, and “roughing it” are very much part of the program. Their travel philosophy is distinctly their own: armed with Lonely Planet guidebooks and deep pre-trip research, they seek out local, uncurated experiences that lead to hidden gems and the kind of memories no guided tour could manufacture.
Christian faith is the foundation of the Peavy family. Gardner and Jill are both actively involved at First Presbyterian Church, where Gardner serves as an Elder and leads a men’s ministry. All three sons have been baptized and confirmed and continue their spiritual journeys, shaped in meaningful ways by YoungLife and multiple summers at Pine Cove Camp — experiences Gardner credits with helping mold them into values-driven young men.
Gardner’s community involvement extends to the Board of Directors of Haven for Hope, the Fiesta San Antonio Commission Board, and past service as president of Rotary International–San Antonio, board member of Goodwill San Antonio and Centro San Antonio, and member of Leadership San Antonio, Class #30.
