Focal Point Vision, 343 W Sunset Rd, 78209, recently welcomed a third ophthalmologist to their practice. He’s Dr. Josh Iltis, a native-born Texan who was raised in Castroville.
Dr. Iltis graduated with honors from Texas A&M University, earning both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Biomedical Sciences. He completed medical school at UT Health in San Antonio with a 4.0 GPA, graduating as the top student in his class. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
His research focused on glaucoma and retinal disease management. He specializes in advanced eye care treatments, including state-of-the-art cataract removal techniques with advanced intraocular lenses, LASIK, PRK, and other refractive surgeries. He offers cutting-edge glaucoma management, including advanced diagnostic testing, medical management, and surgical interventions with minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), traditional filtering procedures, and more.
The new Lasik treatment offered at Focal Point Vision reportedly reduces the incidence of “dry eye,” something I know too well. Indeed, when I had Lasik surgery in the early 2000’s, the improvement in my vision was amazing. But what was not well known back then was the procedure often led to dry eyes. Symptoms of dry eye include feeling like your eyes are stinging and burning, blurred vision, especially when reading, scratchy or gritty feeling like something is in your eye, and more.
The condition is often treated with lubricating eye drops. But not having dry eyes would be wonderful!
Focal Point Vision offers comprehensive ophthalmology services, including advanced surgical procedures and cutting-edge treatments.
