Coffee With Councilman at Wild Barley Kitchen
By Ron Aaron Eisenberg
Some thirty Oak Park Northwood Neighborhood Association residents started the new year with a free Coffee and Conversation with District 10 Councilman Marc Whyte on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 8 a.m. at Wild Barley Kitchen, 8403 Broadway.
The event was announced in November and was open to the public and the media. In his opening remarks, Whyte addressed his arrest on December 29 for allegedly driving under the influence. He apologized for driving after what he said was drinking three beers and reiterated what he told the media after his arrest: Even one drink is one too many if you plan to drive.
The session with Whyte focused on issues neighbors raised, including zoning and development in District 10.
OPNNA president Gina Galaviz Eisenberg (my wife) thanked Wild Barley Kitchen for donating the space and the coffee, roasted locally by Shotgun House Coffee Roasters. She said the Association will schedule additional Coffees With Councilman Whyte throughout the year.
