THE NEW WITTE UNDERWAY
The Witte Museum’s $60 million Phase II two-year project is now underway. The project is so transformational it is being called The New Witte. The vast alterations include renovation and expansion of the Main Museum building to feature the Mays Family Center for special events and blockbuster exhibitions. Also planned in the renovation is the Marie and Hugh Halff Jr. Riverside Gallery, where stunning river vistas will be seen. Additionally, the McLean Family Texas Wild Gallery will be updated as a new, modern space, while visitors to the finished Kittie West Nelson Ferguson People of the Pecos Gallery will travel back thousands of years to learn how prehistoric hunter-gatherers lived. The Zachry Family Acequia Garden will occupy the most historic spot on the Witte campus.

SAN ANTONIO GARDEN CENTER HOSTS ANNUAL PLANT SALE
Get a jump on Spring planting and head over to the San Antonio Garden Center’s annual plant sale March 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Workers will be around to answer questions and offer advice for your gardening needs. You will be able to choose from a variety of drought-tolerant native plants, perennials, bedding plants, flowers and herbs. Plants go quickly at this sale, a favorite of members and nonmembers, so plan to drop in early to pick up some color for your yard. Remember to save some plantings to share at the Donation Station featuring pass-along plants from yards and gardens of Garden Center members.

PINOT’S PALETTE CELEBRATES TWO-YEAR ANNNIVERSARY
Co-partners Cristina Canales and Terry Narazaki celebrated the two-year anniversary of Pinot’s Palette, Alamo Heights, on Feb. 4 with a ribbon cutting hosted by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. Over 100 members of the Pinot’s Palette community, family, friends and guests attended. Later that evening, painters were invited to create their version of Starry Night Over San Antone at a sold-out class.
THE MCNAY PRINT FAIR CELEBRATES 18 YEARS
During the first weekend in March, 14 art dealers from across the U.S. will show and sell prints, drawings and other works of art on paper at the McNay’s 18th Print Fair. It’s the only event of its kind in Texas and the Southwest where you can purchase everything from Old Master prints to art that’s “hot off the press.” March 7-8 in the Leeper Auditorium at the McNay.

At their monthly meeting on Feb. 4, Alamo Heights Chamber of Commerce representatives presented a check to Morgan’s Wonderland, the beneficiary of funds raised at the 37th annual Alamo Heights holiday parade. The parade was presented by H-E-B.
