A Taste of New Orleans
The Brackenridge Park Conservancy is proud to announce its role as co-presenter, as Brackenridge Park is set to host the 40th Annual A Taste of New Orleans, presented by the San Antonio Zulu Association. The beloved Fiesta San Antonio celebration will be held on Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19 at the historic Sunken Garden Theater in the heart of Brackenridge Park.
For four decades, A Taste of New Orleans has been one of Fiesta’s go-to parties, bringing together food, family, and fun with the unmistakable spirit of New Orleans. This milestone 40th anniversary promises to be bigger than ever, inviting San Antonians to grab the kids, round up the whole family, and enjoy authentic New Orleans vibes right here at home.
Festivalgoers can expect live music, mouthwatering Creole and Cajun cuisine, and the vibrant cultural traditions that have made A Taste of New Orleans a staple and crown jewel of Fiesta. From savory classics to festive entertainment, the three-day event transforms Sunken Garden Theater into a lively celebration of heritage and hospitality. This year, to commemorate its 40-year milestone of dedicated service to the community; the Association will also unveil the introduction of The San Antonio ZULU Association King.
“As a New Orleans native, I’ve always felt a deep connection between New Orleans and San Antonio, two cities rooted in rich history, incredible food, soulful music, and vibrant cultural diversity,” said Chris Maitre, CEO of the Brackenridge Park Conservancy. “Hosting The Zulu’s A Taste of New Orleans at Sunken Garden Theater is especially meaningful. This historic venue has long been a gathering place for our community, and its legacy of music and celebration makes it the perfect setting for an event that honors the shared traditions and joyful spirit of both cities.”
Originally built in the 1930s within a former rock quarry, Sunken Garden Theater has served as one of San Antonio’s most treasured outdoor performance spaces. Over the decades, it has welcomed concerts, cultural festivals, and community celebrations, making it a fitting backdrop for this unique cross-cultural tradition.
The partnership between the Brackenridge Park Conservancy and the San Antonio Zulu Association highlights a shared commitment to celebrating cultural heritage while activating one of the city’s most iconic public spaces during Fiesta.
The 40th Annual A Taste of New Orleans takes place April 17–19, 2026 at Sunken Garden Theater in Brackenridge Park.
