70-Year-Old Clock Finds New Home in ‘09

There’s a wonderful new addition to the front of The Jewelry Store at 5603 Broadway St. in 78209. It’s a 70-year-old clock that store owner Oscar Villarreal restored.

He told me he found the clock on the south side of San Antonio. Working in his garage workshop at home, Villarreal said he spent weeks updating the clock and getting it to function again. He had to rebuild the entire mechanism. It’s gorgeous. And it is especially striking at night.

The Jewelry Store is located in the heart of Alamo Heights. Its website notes it is a full-service repair and custom fabrication shop specializing in fine jewelry. From one-of-a-kind estate jewelry to popular lines, such as Kurtulan, Bassali, Jolie, and many more. Additionally, they offer a variety of jewelry-related services: custom designs in all precious metals, estate jewelry restoration and repair, watch services, stone replacement, in-house engraving, and appraisals.
