DADS’s MATH NIGHT

St. David’s Episcopal School hosted a fun-filled evening of preschool and kindergarten math for fathers and their children. The theme for the evening was construction, in honor of the new school building that is underway on campus. After a delicious and kid-friendly meal, dads and students played games, flew airplanes and constructed buildings, using their math and engineering skills at math activity stations. The students had a blast showing off their math abilities!

ST. LUKE’S KICKS OFF RODEO SEASON WITH THE TEXAS HERITAGE RIDERS

St. Luke’s Episcopal School kicked off the San Antonio Rodeo season with the help of the Texas Heritage Riders and Miss Rodeo Texas. Students learned about the Silver Saddle history, played rodeo-themed games and got to pet the silver-saddled palomino ponies. The Texas Heritage Riders is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote and preserve Texas heritage, while honoring the ranching and farming industries. Accompanying them was Alex Ingram, Miss Rodeo Texas. St. Luke’s Episcopal School thanks the Texas Heritage Riders for their commitment to community education and honoring Texas history.

FUTURE TEACHERS INSPIRED BY NEISD EDUCATION MENTORS

Future educators and their North East ISD mentors enjoyed memorable moments at this year’s Student Teacher/Cooperating Teacher Reception on Feb. 10. The event is held twice a year to formally thank district teachers for their participation in working with a student who is joining the field of education. For principals, it’s an opportunity to meet prospective candidates who will support the district in transforming the future.
Student teachers heard from board president Letti Bresnahan; Dr. Brian Gottardy, superintendent of schools; Joel Trevino, executive director of human resources; and Karin Stanley, human resources director for staff development. The event is coordinated by the human resources staff development department.

ST. LUKE’S DANCERS PERFORM FOR NORTHWEST VISTA COLLEGE

St. Luke’s Episcopal School seventh-graders Kourtney Bowen and Victoria Khoury will accompany St. Luke’s dance director, Paula Gorman, to choreograph a performance piece for the Northwest Vista College Dance Repertory Company. The young dancers will travel to the NVC campus several times in the coming months to participate in college dance classes. They will demonstrate contemporary ballet choreography to Europa by Carlos Santana.
Gorman has served on the NVC faculty for nine years. This spring’s experience is one of confidence building for the young dancers. “Students will gain a sense of personal agency by transferring concepts, choreography and movement to the NVC dancers,” she says..
